InterVene Limited is a UK-based medical device company formed specifically to address the serious problems of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAIs) and Needlestick Injuries (NSIs) and to meet the growing needs of healthcare workers for safety devices. InterVene's products are of high quality manufacture and supplied at a price point to encourage integration. We aim to do everything possible to enable customers to adopt a blunt and forthright position against unsafe medical products. We encourage clinicians to intervene...because safety doesn't happen by accident.
At InterVene we have a simple modus operandum: We supply high quality products at competitive prices. Utilising our significant in-house engineering experience in the healthcare sector, we design and produce high quality safety medical devices. Our structure ensures that the mouths we feed before our products reach customers are kept to a minimum, allowing us to deliver products at a price to compete in the healthcare industry. We extend an invitation to companies to benefit from our experience and work with us to design and manufacture on their behalf and to their specifications.
High quality distribution partners operating in the right areas of the healthcare industry are never easy to find. InterVene is currently in the process of identifying high quality distribution partners for its range of safety medical devices. For the right partners, we are keen to offer support, training, high-quality literature and samples of our excellent products at very competitive prices. The launch of our phase 1 range of products heralds an exciting time for InterVene. Our main short-term objective is to identify and appoint suitable distribution partners worldwide to share in our success.
Phase 1 Launch
InterVene Safety Needle is the world’s first manually retractable hypodermic safety needle. It can be used on conventional luer lock or luer slip syringes and fingers never go forward of the needle. It can be used with some blood collection systems, offering immediate flashback visualisation of blood, confirming venous access. InterVene's Safety Needle has been accepted in the recent framework agreement for needles, syringes and asssociated products by NHS supply chain.
InterVene Safety Lancet is a pre-armed lancet, intuitive in its operation and training is therefore kept to a minimum. A choice of three needle gauges enables InterVene's Safety Lancet to be used in a variety of clinical settings, delivering a wide range of blood flows of between approximately 20µl and 175µl. A visual indicator shows when the device has been used. The lancet is individually wrapped for maximum sterility and also offers a locking safety cap, which ensures safe disposal.
InterVene Disposable Tourniquet is a revolutionary new single-use device which eliminates the chances of cross-infection from the use of tourniquets. The device is latex-free and self-destructs once released. The design allows for a safe and controlled release.
InterVene Cannulock™ is a Multiport Infusion Device designed to reduce trauma at the site of cannulation. Ergonomically designed to sit between radius and ulna it is quick and easy to apply and, secured in place by a single use ‘snap’-closure strap, it is supplied with swabable needle-free port adapters. A paediatric version, Mini-Cannulock™ is now also available for paediatrics incorporating an elephant in its design.
InterVene Disposable BP Cuffs - InterVene’s single patient, non-invasive blood pressure cuffs have been designed to prevent cross infection from use on multiple patients. The cuff is comfortable to wear and inexpensive to implement. A full range of adult cuffs is available in both single and dual tube connections in addition to a full neonatal range (sizes 1-5).
InterVene SNIPA™ stands for Swabable Needle-free Injection Port Adapter. SNIPA™ incorporates a finger pad specifically designed to promote aseptic techniques and is supplied at a price point that healthcare organisations cannot afford to ignore.
Enteralok™ Enteral feeding syringe was designed by the company when the NHS had problems with sourcing a female luer lock syringe for Enteral feeding regimes. It has recently been contracted by NHS Supply Chain and will be formally launched at Medica 2008. More information can be found at www.enteralok.com.
***************
Why the name InterVene, you may ask? Well, it originally began as a pun on "In to Vein" but works on different levels, for example, the logo takes the "I" and the "V" from InterVene, which is an abbreviation for intravenous. It could also serve to represent the Roman numeral IV (four) - four common uses for a hypodermic needle (blood draw, intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous injection). Finally, intervention is what is required to make current practice safer.
There is a more serious message in the strap line, however. Safety doesn't happen by accident. HCAIs and NSIs are a real and significant problem for healthcare workers. It does take a lot of hard work and commitment to make the workplace a safe environment and products supplied by InterVene are designed to facilitate the work of those whose job it is to focus on safety. We would be delighted to hear from you via our Contact Us page if you are interested in learning more about the products in our range or, more important, if you have any suggestions for new products.
