InterVene has teamed up with Canadian Healthcare experts Domrex Pharma to bring to market in the UK a revolutionary new type of syringe.

The new Reciprocating Procedure Device (RPD) manufactured by Avanca Medical Devices Inc is a fabulous, revolutionary type of syringe with a multitude of applications in healthcare and veterinary markets.

The RPD is a one-handed device that is functionally superior to and replaces the conventional syringe in physician-performed syringe procedures.  The RPD is markedly safer than a conventional syringe.*

In physician-performed syringe procedures, the RPD results in:

• Greater accuracy and needle control
• Reduced patient pain and tissue trauma
• Reduced procedure time
• Improved tissue and fluid samples
• Facilitates physician-administered injection therapy
• Improved safety
• Improved patient outcomes*

The RPD is designed so aspiration and injection use the same finger motions and the strongest muscles of the hand - the flexors. The RPD is designed so that the stabilizing digits, the index and middle fingers, do not change position when transitioning from aspiration to injection.

Advantages of the Reciprocating Procedure Device (RPD):

Cost-Effective*
1. Significantly less costly than syringe holders, pistols, and guns
2. One-time use
3. Pre-sterilized and ready to use
4. Reduces procedure time
5. Economically priced
6. Reduces the need for an assistant

One-Handed Use*
1. Fully operated with one hand
2. Can both inject and aspirate with one hand
3. Easily obtains maximum vacuum (-346 Torr) with one hand
4. Easily injects with one hand
5. Decreases hand fatigue
6. Permits free hand to do other tasks
7. Sturdy and ergonomic

Improved Control of Syringe and Needle*
1. Stable finger positioning
2. Reduces unintended forward intrusion of the needle by 66% (10.5 mm)
3. Reduces unintended retraction of the needle by 68% (1.77 mm)
4. Reduces unintended forward perforations by 80%
5. Unique force vector control
6. Superior to conventional syringe, three-ring control syringes, syringe pistols/guns, and other two or one-handed procedure syringes

Improved Patient Outcomes*
1. Reduced procedure times (40% reduction)
2. Reduced patient pain (56% reduction in pain scores)
3. 85% effective in preventing significant patient pain
4. Improved procedure performance by physicians
